The asymmetry of cybersecurity<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today’s cybersecurity market is caught in a paradox. Corporate budgets keep growing, defence tools keep multiplying, and yet successfully exploited vulnerabilities rose by 96%1<\/a><\/sup> in 2024, with zero-day attacks capable of inflicting damage worth millions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On top of this structural fragility sits a new wave of regulatory pressure without precedent. European frameworks such as DORA and the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) are changing what’s expected of companies, which, particularly in critical sectors, must now demonstrate absolute transparency and a “provable” understanding of the software running on their systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cognitive Security is emerging in response to this complexity: an approach that moves beyond old reactive methods by embedding autonomous decision-making systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From source code blindness to the “triage tax”<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The traditional security model has blind spots at both ends of the software lifecycle. On one side, conventional vulnerability scanners (SAST) require access to source code, a luxury few can afford today, given that infrastructure now rests on complex supply chains and opaque third-party software (the so-called “Black Boxes”) whose keys companies simply don’t hold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the other side, companies rely on runtime protection systems such as EDR, which are inherently reactive: they only step in once the software is running and the threat has already materialised.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Caught between these two gaps, operational teams pay what might be called a “Triage Tax”. They’re overwhelmed by thousands of generic alerts and lose entire days manually validating false positives, tying up valuable engineering resources without ever solving the underlying problem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Bynario paradigm<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bynario resolves this deadlock by offering genuine, autonomous understanding of enterprise software.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s a deep-tech platform: an X-ray for opaque software that analyses binary files with no need for the original source code. Bynario’s ambition, though, extends well beyond scanning. Its proprietary AI engine, the Cyber Reasoning System, rebuilds a copy of the customer’s environment and runs agentic validation: autonomous agents physically attempt to exploit the vulnerabilities identified, inside a secure sandbox environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If the agent succeeds, the flaw is real and gets prioritised. If it fails, the alert is silenced as unexploitable. At the same time, the platform blocks malicious packages in real time before they’re installed (Live Scan), protecting the supply chain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company describes its approach with a simple mantra: cut the noise and fix what matters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In August, Bynario’s researchers used frontier AI models to uncover vulnerabilities in macOS’s Screen Sharing technology, reported by the Financial Times and disclosed to Apple, which then issued a dedicated fix. The same offensive research methodology, applied defensively, powers the platform’s engine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our investment thesis<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bynario’s pre-seed round, worth \u20ac2.1 million, is led by 360 Capital Partners, with participation from PranaVentures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The investment in Bynario combines a strong technological moat with proven execution. The founding team brings decades of cybersecurity experience and a previous successful exit, and has built a barrier to entry that will be hard to replicate. Their ability to autonomously prove an exploit addresses the sector’s biggest weakness: false positives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
